1595) Richard Quintin Hoare

Richard Quintin "Tigger" Hoare (1943 - 2020). English banker at C. Hoare & Co., the oldest extant bank in the United Kingdom.
Youngest son of Quintin Hoare and Lucy (née Selwyn), he was the scion of the landed gentry family of that name, founders, in 1672, of the eponymous private bank.
After leaving school in 1960, he was articled to a chartered accountancy firm before joining the family bank a few years later. At C. Hoare he rose quickly to become a partner in 1969 and later deputy chair.
In 1970 Hoare married his second cousin, the Hon Frances Evelyn Hogg (a teacher and maistrate), by whom he had two sons, Alexander and Charles, and a daughter, Elizabeth.
In 1983 he founded the Bulldog Trust, to provide support and advice for charities facing immediate financial difficulties. The trust is based at and owns Two Temple Place in the City of London.

1442) James Gallatin

James Gallatin (796 – 1876). American banker, son of Albert Gallatin.

While his father helped broker the Treaty of Ghent, which ended the War of 1812 between Britain and the United States, James acted as his personal secretary during this diplomatic trip. After the success at Ghent, the Gallatins traveled to France just as Napoleon arrived at Cannes after escaping Elba. James' diary includes a detailed look into the lives of the nobles as they faced the threat of Napoleon's return. At one point, he is asked by the famous artist Jacques-Louis David to sit as Cupid for his painting Cupid and Psyche.

He succeeded his father as the president of the Gallatin National Bank in 1839. After his retirement in 1868 he relocated to Paris, France.

George Kennedy Young (1911 – 1990). Deputy director of MI6 (British foreign intelligence service). He was later involved in British conservative politics and was also a merchant banker.

Sir Moses Haim Montefiore, 1st Baronet, (1784 – 1885). British financier and banker, activist, philanthropist and Sheriff of London. Born to an Italian-Jewish family, he donated large sums of money to promote industry, business, economic development, education and health among the Jewish community in the Levant, including the founding of Mishkenot Sha'ananim in 1860, the first settlement of the New Yishuv. As President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, his correspondence with the British consul in Damascus Charles Henry Churchill in 1841–42 is seen as pivotal to the development of Proto-Zionism.

990) Victor Albert George Child Villiers, 7th Earl of Jersey

Victor Albert George Child Villiers, 7th Earl of Jersey (1845 – 1915). British banker, Conservative politician and colonial administrator from the Villiers family. He served as Governor of New South Wales between 1891 and 1893.
His mother was the daughter of Sir Robert Peel.

Nathan Mayer, Freiherr von Rothschild  (1777 – 1836). German Jewish banker, businessman and financier. He was one of five sons of the second generation of the Rothschild banking dynasty. He was born in Frankfurt am Main, the third child of Mayer Amschel Rothschild (1744–1812) and Guttle Schnapper (1753–1849). Once the wealthiest man on earth, he was the richest among the Rothschilds.
