790) Rosalvo Bobo

Pierre François Joseph Benoit Rosalvo Bobo or Rosalvo Bobo (1874–1929). Haitian politician who opposed the United States occupation of Haiti in 1915. He led the Cacos Rebellion in response to the landing of US Marines at Port au Prince on 28 July 1915. Admiral William B. Caperton ordered the troops in after the death of Jean Vilbrun Guillaume Sam. In this way Bobo was prevented from becoming president with Philippe Sudré Dartiguenave being installed as a US puppet. Bobo first fled to Cuba, but then moved on to Jamaica. He finally settled in France, where he died in 1929.
