Gerard de Rose (1918–1987). British painter who specialise in
portrait of the famous. He taught at various art colleges from 1950 to
1958, including at the London College of Printing. From 1958 to 1967 de
Rose ran the fine art faculty at Maidstone College of Art as head of
faculty.
In 1961 he was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists (RBA). He was also a member of the Chelsea Arts Club.
In his youth, de Rose was a formidable boxer and a skilled amateur magician.
