Suzanne (Marie-Clémentine) Valadon (1865 – 1938). French painter and
artists' model. In 1894, Valadon became the first woman painter admitted
to the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts. She was also the mother of
painter Maurice Utrillo.
- "
Valadon shows us anticipatory
resoluteness in the model's physical strenght, self-reliance, camarderie
and love, which, if it comes, will be enlivened with a flowing
eroticism suggested by her calm nude pose and cascading red hair."

- "

painted, a fellow tourist’s deep laughter and the flash of her red hair
conjures the image of Valadon..."
