119) Suzanne Valadon

Suzanne (Marie-Clémentine) Valadon (1865 – 1938). French painter and artists' model. In 1894, Valadon became the first woman painter admitted to the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts. She was also the mother of painter Maurice Utrillo.

- "Valadon shows us anticipatory resoluteness in the model's physical strenght, self-reliance, camarderie and love, which, if it comes, will be enlivened with a flowing eroticism suggested by her calm nude pose and cascading red hair." https://books.google.it/books…

- "In one of the gardens on the hill, beyond the swing that Renoir painted, a fellow tourist’s deep laughter and the flash of her red hair conjures the image of Valadon..." https://www.ft.com/con…/4bf4ce1e-50f8-11e7-a1f2-db19572361bb
