Barbara Palmer, 1st Duchess of Cleveland (1640 –1709). English royal mistress from the Villiers family and perhaps the most notorious of the many mistresses of King Charles II of England, by whom she had five children, all of whom were acknowledged and subsequently ennobled. Her influence was so great that she has been referred to as "The Uncrowned Queen."
- “He sent Barbara as a messenger to Charles in The Hague, where the king was smitten by her auburn hair, violet eyes and sensuous mouth.” http://www.dailymail.co.uk/…/Racy-exhibition-reveals-court-…
- “Her flaming red hair and vivid blue eyes were only two of her assets.” https://books.google.it/books…
- " Barbara was described by diarists of the time as tall and voluptuous, with thick auburn hair and blue/violet eyes, her beauty was said to be striking."
"Generally acclaimed as the most beautiful woman in England, Barbara was tall, shapely, with blue eyes and auburn hair." https://royalfavourites.blogspot.com/2016/03/stuart-england-royaltys-lovers.html
