339) Frederick I, Holy Roman Emperor

Frederick I (1122 - 1190), also known as Barbarossa, meaning "red beard". Elected King of Germany in 1152, crowned King of Italy in 1155, and crowned Holy Roman Emperor by Pope Adrian IV in 1155. Grandfather of Frederick II.
